Los Angeles punk band Circle Jerks are coming to Sacramento on Friday, December 4, 2026. They play the Crest Theatre that night with a 7:30 PM showtime as part of a California run called the Repo Man tour. Tickets are on sale through Live Nation.
The Band
Circle Jerks formed in Los Angeles in 1979, shortly after Keith Morris left Black Flag. The original lineup — Morris on vocals, Greg Hetson on guitar, Roger Rogerson on bass, and Lucky Lehrer on drums — recorded Group Sex in 1980, a 14-song album that runs under 15 minutes and remains one of the defining records in American hardcore. The band followed it with Wild in the Streets (1982) and Golden Shower of Hits (1983) before their profile expanded beyond the LA scene.
Hetson later joined Bad Religion. Morris eventually started OFF!. The original lineup reunited in 2020 after a long hiatus, with the reunion shows quickly becoming a fixture on the festival circuit before moving into headlining runs. The Sacramento stop is part of that ongoing return.
The Repo Man Connection
The tour name pulls from the 1984 Alex Cox film Repo Man, a cult classic that sits at the intersection of punk and science fiction. Circle Jerks appear in the film in a memorable bar scene, and the soundtrack — which includes Iggy Pop, Black Flag, and The Plugz alongside the Circle Jerks — helped the film find its audience in the same circles that bought the band’s records. The Group Sex single "When the Shit Hits the Fan" appears on the film’s soundtrack in a lounge version that became a joke in the movie and a staple of the band’s mythology.
The tour makes a two-stop California run: Sacramento on December 4, then San Francisco’s Castro Theatre on December 6.
The Crest Theatre
The Crest opened in 1949 on K Street in Midtown and has been a consistent anchor for Sacramento’s live music and film calendar. The venue runs about 1,000 capacity in a single-floor layout with a balcony, which makes it one of the better rooms in the city for a show that benefits from a tighter space — loud, close, and without the arena distance that takes some of the edge off a punk set.
