Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 quarts oil for frying
- 1/2 cup white sugar, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Bring the mixture to a boil and then remove it from the heat. Stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball.
- Heat the oil for frying in a deep-fryer or deep skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Use a thermometer to ensure the correct temperature.
- Transfer the dough to a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil using scissors or a sharp knife to cut the dough. Fry churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and let them drain on paper towels.
- In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll drained churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while still warm.
- Serve the churros warm and enjoy!
